This Friday, June 22, 2012 is “Take Your Dog To Work Day” where thousands of owners will bring their dogs to work to celebrate the 14th annual event. It’s a day when people get to show off their furry friends to their co-workers and vice versa.
Started in 1999, Pet Sitters International’s “Take Your Dog To Work Day” was created to celebrate the great companionship of dogs and to encourage adoption from humane societies, animal shelters and rescue groups. The day has gained popularity as dogs have become increasingly more accepted in the workplace. Employers are encouraged to allow employees’ to bring their pets to work for this one special day.
The benefits of having dogs in an office workplace contribute to camaraderie, productivity, and a less-stressful work environment.
The entire week of June 18 - 22 has been designated as “Take Your Pet To Work Week” so if your workplace is closed on Friday or you want to make another day special for some of your pets, select a day during the week to have a pet event at your office.
The Bark magazine posted a feature about staff members at the Daily Show bringing their dogs to work. Here are some of the fun photos.
